Check both ends of your filter, and if you have a number on it, that's your filter model number. Just search for that number and you'll find compatible filters. If there's nothing printed on your filter, you will need to pull out a measuring tape or a ruler.
There are situations when you want to briefly test the system without the spa filter cartridge in place, to see if the heater will come on with the filter removed, for example. But running the pump for long periods of time without the filter could lead to clogged pump impellers, and rapid water quality problems.
Generally, it is recommended to run your spa filter for a minimum of 4-6 hours per day. However, you may need to run it for longer periods of time depending on the frequency of use and the number of people using the spa.
Every three to four months, the water should be changed in the hot tub, the perfect time to soak the filter in a chemical solution made specifically for filters. Never use bleach, dishwater detergent, or other household cleaners.
Most hot tub filters need to be replaced once every year. However, some high-quality filters can be used for up to three years, depending on your level of use. Low-quality hot tub filters, on the other hand, may need to be changed much sooner. Check your filter's packaging to know how long yours will last.
Cleaning Your Spa's filters may sound like a daunting task, but it's as easy as turning off your spas power, pulling the filter out, and washing with a hose! To achieve a deeper clean, use filter cleaner or a degreaser to loosen grease and oils before washing with a hose.
